H1N1

Hi friends and family,

A student at our school has a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus. Almost 40 of his classmates had some sort of fever or flu-like symptom. The principal sent all of Gao 1 and Gao 2 home, but the 3rd level students (aka high school seniors) are still in school. Apparently the Gaokao (basically, the Chinese SAT) is too important to take unnecessary precautions.

We will have seven days off from school. To fill the time, we will write a newspaper for the students to read. It will have fun things to read as well as educational articles. Zoe and I might also go to Hanzhou, if it seems that we are healthy enough.

The other Fellows and I are very careful about where we go. We have been cooking our own food or being very smart about what we eat. So don't worry.

I promise, an update about Xiuning (with pictures) will come soon!
