Xiuning and Wan'an

So the way towns and cities are divided in China can be a little confusing. But basically in China, there are more divisions than we have in America. I was just about to try to explain it here, but it's still confusing to me. A "county" is smaller than a "city," I think... just as an example.

Anyway, Xiuning is the city that is closest to us (not Chinese "city"... just a city). Our school is on the highway between Xiuning and another bigger city called Tunxi. Our school is in a smaller town called Wan'an.

This is Wan'an. We eat dinner in this general area every night. There are several convenience stores and two China Mobile stores for our rare cell phone needs.

The front of our school looks desolate now, but usually there are several grandmas and babies. Michael calls it a baby party. It's a nice way for the little bao-bei's to learn to be social with others!
In Xiuning, there is a "shopping area for women," or at least that's what it says at the front of the mini-mall.
This is the fruit market in Xiuning where we (aka Michael, Brendan, and Zoe) buy fruit.
In Xiuning, there is a big square where occasionally there will be music and dancing at night.
